Matthew Benjamin was born and raised in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, a small town where cows out number people! He fell in love with musical theatre after seeing a high school production of Bye Bye Birdie, at the age of 4. Ever since that day, he knew he had to be in a show. Matthew never knew it was going to be a career choice until he went on a 10th grade school trip to New York City to see Disney's Beauty and the Beast. He knew from the moment the curtain opened, that his life was going to be on Broadway! After high school he moved to New York City and began his training at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, majoring in Musical Theatre. Matthew made his professional debut in the summer of 2006 at La Comedia Dinner Theatre in Springfield, Ohio in a new production of Sleeping Beauty, a new Jerome Kern Musical, where he played Barry one of two evil henchmen of the evil fairy.
